Cheryl Gressley, of Northampton, Pa. and enrollment assistant at Central Penn College Lehigh Valley, received the ‘Weekend Warrior’ award at the college’s recent Years of Service and Recognition event. In recognition of Gressley’s volunteerism and community service, she was rewarded with a day off of work and a $500 donation for the charity of her choice.
She presented her $500 award to Marvin Smith, chairman of the board, and Kraig Hess, president of the Sons of a Carpenter, a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides community service through the construction or restoration of structures to instill hope to those who have encountered loss due to uncontrollable circumstances. Gressley serves as the publicity chair for the group.
The $500 donation from Central Penn will start the organization’s fund for a woman who suffered a brain aneurysm and needs major remodeling done in a home. The organization is hoping to be done by mid-January 2013.
